Lesson 2: More on Smart Goal Setting and
Achieving Goals
- Make
it a ritual to review your goals each morning and evening, and
visualize yourself achieving each of your goals….
The more clarity ability to see your success in your mind, you are much
more likely to transform this into reality. Generate a perfect picture
of your success in your mind and view it frequently. Another
recommended method you may find useful is to create a picture board.
This effective tool will allow you to get the most out by way of visual
impact by visually achieving your SMART goals.
- Sphere
of Influence…surrounding your self with other like-minded motivated and
successful goal seeking individuals.
I myself enjoy sharing my SMART goals with a handful of my enthusiastic
friends and associates. Getting together is energizing as we motivate
each other by discussing our goals, success, and challenges.
Although
it is a bit unfortunate you should be wary of whom
you share your goals with. Sharing with un-motivated non-goal-oriented
people
will very seldom support you, and that being said in a lot of cases,
will more
than likely try to discourage you from your goals.
- Expected
challenges you’ll encounter while working towards your SMART goals, be
prepared and plan for how you will deal with them and overcome them.
By being prepared for them you will be able to overcome the obstacles
easier and with less stress. It may be reassuring for you to know…
often by simply being prepared and planning for obstacles this in
itself may very well prevent many of them from occurring all together.
- The
use of affirmations.
An example of this is if say your goal is to stop smoking….repeating
such a statement, for instance, “I take pleasure in the lifestyle of a
non-smoker,” “I’m thrilled I’m a non-smoker,” “I love the taste of food
more as a non-smoker.” Stating affirmations out loud reinforces your
goal consciously to your mind; this technique will help you achieve
your SMART goal a great deal faster.
- Procrastination
is dangerous….Take action.
Remember this….even all the planning in the universe will not in itself
help you achieve your goals. Never
hesitate…just take action. A good rule
of thumb….once you’ve determined your goal for yourself, get started by
taking action within 24 hours.
Setting
the wheels in motion creates the essential momentum
or energy needed to achieve. Motivational statement “We are either
moving
toward or away from our goals.” Therefore it is important to develop
our daily routine
to include taking action on a daily basis.
Is achieving a higher level of success and
greatness all that difficult? NO,
however, it certainly does require discipline, and a clear thoughts and
focus
of what and how you want to accomplish it.
One thing is for sure if you
never
start you will never know… Get started and follow these outlined steps
and
begin setting and achieving your SMART goals and live the best life
ever!
